Tang Soo Do uses hyung (forms) to teach striking combinations, build endurance, improve balance & coordination. Hyung (forms) are ritualized patterns where students combine various strikes, kicks stances and blocks.
Tang Soo Do roughly translates to "empty hand, bear no-weapon, desire peace." Classes are structured with the following elements:
Warm-ups/Cool-downs: includes calisthenics, flexibility and isometric strength training
Techniques: dedicated break-down to the proper movements needed to execute good stances, blocking, punching and kicking.
Forms: rank-by-rank group training to practice the traditional forms required for each belt-level
Self-Defense: scenario-based counters to common attacks and grabs
Sparring: traditional, point and full-contact style fighting versus one and multiple opponents
Weapons: traditional weapons (Bo-staff, Nunchucks, Sais, Kamas)
Chanbara: sword fighting with competition-style foam swords and protective head-gear
Breaking: focus-training on proper technique to break wood and bricks
Our instructors have an extensive background in teaching practical self defense techniques within our Tang Soo Do classes. Each lesson teaches our students how to use their own body mechanics to leverage an advantage over an opponent. Students learn how to use every part of their body to disable, and disarm opponents. Students will learn how safely escape both from the ground, and on their feet. Each technique is meant to be simple and effective in a way that prioritizes safety. Many of these lessons have direct connections to Tang Soo Do as a Martial Art.
The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.
A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!
Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.
